Four years ago Amanda and I traveled to Stroud, Oklahoma kill pen and rescued a yearling Paso Fino filly. I named her Mercy. It was my intention to keep her and train her myself but due to life circumstances I decided to surrender her to the rescue. One of our rescue volunteers fell in love with Mercy from day one. Therefore, she filled out an adoption application, her application was approved by our board and she adopted Mercy. With the remaining balance in our account of $500 and using Mercy’s adoption fee, we recently rescued 2 mini horses, both geldings. These 2 little boys (ages 8 months and 2 years old) are adorable and so sweet. They originally came from a Virginia kill pen, passed through a Kentucky rescue and ended up here in Illinois. They are adjusting to their new surroundings and currently being socialized with people. However, having depleted our donations to take in these 2 boys, we are in much need of donations to get their teeth floated, hooves trimmed, etc. At this time, the board has decided not to adopt them out until they are able to be handled by anyone including small children. In the meantime, due to the depletion of almost all of our funds to rescue these 2 minis, we need to build up our donations to continue caring for these 2 horses. Please donate what you can by using our website via PayPal or send a donation to: Heart of Illinois Horse Rescue, 14681 Toad Road, Wapella, IL 61777 - remember; your donation is tax deductible. Thank you so much and God bless.
